I've had quite a varied workload over the last few weeks. These include a poem for a Bride from her stepmother, personalised poetry for funerals and also a poem for a Christening.
Births, Marriages and Deaths; Poetry can encapsulate the feelings and emotions of each of those times. I must say, that the longer I am doing this, that the whole circle of life and it's ups and downs seems more magnificent than ever. It really is satisfying to be able to say that I can adapt to each of those situations and do them justice. Thanks once again to all my loyal customers as I couldn't do it without you! Ok, so 24 days without an update is not good in the world of twitter. So I have updated today. It is a bit random but am still only just finding my feet with it.

Poems For Father's Day
With Father's Day rapidly approaching, why not request a poem for Dad. A personalised poem for Father's Day will certainly be something that is kept and treasured for a lifetime. Dads, just like Mums, love to be told how special they are and this the perfect chance for you to tell him. Just imagine how touched your father will be when you tell him how much he means to you. You can even recall details of happy times you have shared together and even say thank you for all he has done. To guarantee you have your personalised poem by Father's Day, orders should be placed by the 16th of June. Purchasing a poem couldn't be simpler. Simply visit I Want A Poem and fill in the request form on the buy page. To order your father's day poem, simply visit www.iwantapoem.co.uk Personalised Poems for all occasions. Sunday, June 7

Just watched the final of The Apprentice 2009. I knew Yasmina would win. Great choice by Sir Alan there. I think Kate will also do very well. It is extremely motivating seeing strong women in today's society. It gives me hope that you really can achieve anything you want if you set your mind to it.
Well done ladies! Makes me question myself though. Am I an entrepeneur? Hmmm, I suppose the label is irrelevant as long as you are successful. Ask me again in ten years! Friday, May 29

I thought I should have a brief mention of what it is like to run your own home eneterprise. Needless to say, you need to be dedicated as there is only yourself to motivate and get work done.
I am enjoying what I am doing at present. It is a very nice feeling to be doing something I love and getting paid to do it. It is also lovely to be giving something back, so to speak. The feeling you get when somebody takes the time to write to you and let you know that they have enjoyed your poem, or that their recipient was so touched that they keep on mentioning it, is just an absolute joy. That said though, I am looking for new and exciting ways to use my talents. Answers on a postcard please! There is also the issue of keeping a work/home balance when the two become intertwined. I found it very easy to slip into working 16-20 hours a day, just because I could. But of course that is not sustainable long term. I have worked hard to find some dedicated time for my enterprise whilst still leaving time for the children. I think the key is to pace yourself, and prioritise those tasks you need to do against the ones you would like to do. Long may the harmonious balance last! For example, today is a glorious sunny day, I am looking out over the hills for inspiration while my children play happily outdoors. Heaven!

I've gone a bit ultra modern and got a twitter account. Seems to be the in thing so I thought I would give it a go. Would be lovely to chat to some of my previous customers. I'm not really sure it is my thing but there is no harm in trying.
Social networking seems to have exploded over the last few years. It wasn't a cool thing to do when I first started using the net, but now everyone is at it. Funny how times change. Perhaps I shall see a few of you over there! Look forward to chatting. Saturday, May 9

Funny title you may think. With continuing support from my wonderful customers, I Want A Poem is going from strength to strength. Spring and Summer are wonderful times for writing happy love filled poetry. So much inspiration to be drawn from the blooming blossoms, blue skies and warm winds.
Recent commissions for personalised poetry have included acrostics, a 75th birthday poem, a poem for a new love interest, a poem dedicated to someone who was giving away the Bride and a poem on behalf of a little girl who had sadly just lost her Nana. I experience such a range of emotions writing these poems. It's like you are given a little window or a snapshot of somebody's life; And then it is my job to encapsulate that snapshot of emotion into something personal that will be kept and re-read time and again. It really is an honour to have worked with some of the lovely people who have contacted me over the last year or so and I look forward to working with many of them again as new and exciting "occasions" happen for them. Anything you want to say, anyday of the year. Say it with a poem. If you would like to buy a poem, please visit http://www.iwantapoem.co.uk to place your order. www.iwantapoem.co.uk Wednesday, April 1

Happy Poetry Month! April sees the US celebration of poetry whilst here in the UK, we have it in October.
I feel that poetry can sometimes get overlooked and definitely welcome anything that brings it back to people's attention. There are so many ways that you can use a poem, and so many reasons to write one. Thursday, January 1

Last week, I was honoured to write a very special poem for a gentleman wishing to propose to the lady in his life on Christmas Day. I really enjoyed writing this and I truly hope he comes back after to Christmas to let me know how it all went. If only my own husband had been as thoughtful!
All the best to Mr B and hopefully his bride to be! So romantic! A personalised poem is definitely the way to propose. Friday, December 5

I have just finished work on a very interesting project. A customer approached me with a piece of text that had originally been written in Turkish. She asked if I would be able to 'poetize' her translation into a personlised poem that she could read at her wedding.
I really enjoyed working on this piece and am exceptionally proud of the result. The customer was equally impressed and even remarked that parts of my poem were better than the original. I was very touched to hear this. http://www.iwantapoem.co.uk Sunday, August 3

The internet, though I have been using it for over a decade now, still has secrets that elude me. I need to find out how Google rankings work. I seem to be ranked quite well considering I have had no help in this area, but I would like to understand it better in an effort to better my position. There is a wealth of information out there; It's just finding the right bits. Ah well, happy googling!
Even so, seeing I WANT A POEM anywhere is a real buzz. I am thrilled that so many people are enjoying my peronalised poems. I feel I offer a personal service with a very unique selling point and so far my feedback has been resounding. I really do appreciate all the time people take to let me know their feelings. So, personalised service for a personalised poem. Makes sense! Thanks once again to all my wonderful customers. I truly value each and every one of you. This has to be one of my most asked questions. So I thought I would put together a little bit of information myself on what I need from a customer to create a poem.
First things first; The occasion you need a poem for, the recipient and also who the poem is to be from. Then after that, anything goes. What I would say however, is not to include any information that you WOULD NOT want to include in the poem. Even little details - if you have told me about it, I presume you want it included! Good things to include are special memories, times, places etc. Remember....................the more information I have, the more personal your poem will be! Recent commissions include a Fairytale Wedding Poem, Happy 80th Birthday Mother Poem, Retro Wedding Reception Poem, Brother's 30th Birthday Poem and Best Wishes for a Special Couple getting married. If you have any specific style or theme you would like me to incorporate, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll do my very best to ensure it's perfect for your special moment! http://www.iwantapoem.com Monday, July 21

I was very excited to see my website mentioned in Wedding Ideas magazine when I was in WH Smith the other day. Page 112 to be precise, the August Issue. There is an image and a link to my website, on the subject of personalised poems to remember loved ones. One of my friends has her picture in there(the magazine) too. All seems very surreal but I do feel that I have worked extremely hard this year on my business and it is such a satisfying feeling. Seeing it mentioned in print validates it even more somehow.
I have got some new ideas in the pipeline and some changes to the way my system works, but for now, I am very happy with the way things are going. http://www.iwantapoem.com is now live and redirecting my customers to the .co.uk address. Thanks once again to my wonderful customers. It's been a pleasure to work with each and every one of you. Incidentally, I had an email from one particularly lovely customer who just wanted me know how her poem had been received. I was very touched that she had taken the time to write to me and also that her recipient had been overwhelmed. Apparently, the poem was somewhat of a talking point and I feel honoured to have played a part in touching someone's life on such a special day. Monday, May 19

Received my copy of Wedding Ideas Magazine through the post today - my second advert is out yay!! It is really nice to see it and feels very official.
I would like to sincerely thank all my customers for their support in this developing time of my business. And for all the lovely feedback and comments I am truly grateful. It is so nice to hear positive thoughts about my work. Had a slight technical hitch over the weekend though. For some reason my BUY form on the BUY PAGE and guestbook stopped working meaning I could not take any orders. Luckily my husband had been onto my site to show a friend of his what I do, as if he hadn't I would not have been aware that there was a problem - I thought it was just a quiet weekend as I was still receiving emails. So a lesson learnt - check your site regularly! Tuesday, May 13

After much to-ing and fro-ing between myself and the advertising bods at Wedding Ideas Magazine, I finally have an advert that I am happy to see go in a magazine. All seems a bit surreal thinking that this little website I set up is going to be advertising in a real live magazine. But I can't wait to see it - you have no idea how excited I am about all of this. It feels like I am living a dream, as for so long I have wanted to do something with my skills, but never had the confidence, but now thanks to my hubby and a wonderful group of ladies, here I am doing it and I couldn't be happier! Well, of course I COULD be happier, say when I make my first million :-p but until then, I am really very grateful for this wonderful opportunity to touch so many people's lives. Hopefully this ad will allow me to reach even more people! Don't forget to tell a friend!!

Wondering whether I should consider some formal advertising. Getting fairly good trade through word of mouth alone but would like to make it a little bigger. I want EVERYONE to have had a poem written for them by Amy! Hmmmmmm..............
