Recent Commissions

It's been a great start to the year here at I Want A Poem. When I started back in 2007, I had no idea at all if this would work. But thanks to some very good friends who gave me the confidence to get out there, here I am. So I would first of all like to take the opportunity to say thank you to my wonderful clients. It has been a privilege to work with each and every one.

I have been lucky enough to work on a really diverse set of poems already this year; from a marriage proposal to an apology and a poem about baby cousins to go inside a scrapbook to an 'in memoriam' ode, for a funeral.

One of the poems I most enjoyed working on, was an Alice in Wonderland Style story that a gentleman commissioned for his girlfriend, as a romantic gift.

Another two touching poems were for Weddings. I was asked to write a poem for a Bride from her late Grandmother and another was again to a Bride, but from her youngest sister. I think it is little touches like this that the Bride will hopefully look back on and be moved, even years after she has tied the knot.

Christmas was also a popular time for getting engaged so many eager Brides to Be are already scouting out personalised wedding readings and thinking about how they can thank their loved ones for being a part of their big day.
Weddings are particuarly sentimental times anyway, but having some extra special words can truly add the edge.

I always knew that there had to be a poem for every occasion and it seems I was right. There are so many reasons to buy a poem. I wonder if you have an idea for poem? What do you like to hear or read?

Poems in 2010

I am looking forward to the challenges that the rest of the year will bring; you just never know what you'll be asked to write about next! Sometimes, it's nice to write poetry about matters really close to your heart, drawing on your own personal emotions but equally, it can be liberating to let your imagination run wild.
A poem can grow from the tiniest seed into something beautiful and unique.

If you would like to commission a poem,  perhaps for a wedding or any other occasion then please do visit http://www.iwantapoem.co.uk and fill the form, and I will be happy to help.

Most people have a favourite poem. I know, I myself, have several. Poems can evoke so many different memories that I even have a favourite poem for each occasion; each one means something to me. But sometimes I want something even closer to my chosen moment or occasion. And for those moments, only a truly personalised poem will do.

I write personalised poetry for weddings, anniversarys, birthdays, funerals, retirements, births, engagements and all other special occasions; the full spectrum of life. In fact it doesn't even have to be a special occasion. Sometimes only words will do.

A personalised poem makes a great special gift.

Want A Poem?

Any special or memorable occasion
Will benefit from beautifully placed words.
But how do you go about finding the right message?
What's a fun way to make yourself heard?

Express yourself with a little poetic magic
And pen your loved ones a verse or a rhyme.
They will be so very touched by the effort
And the sentiment conveyed in each line.

For Congratulations, New babies or Retirement
Or for the birthday of your precious little one.
For Weddings, Anniversaries and for Christmas;
The list of reasons for a poem, goes on and on.

Your personalised poem will be cherished.
It's a fabulous and unique, special gift.
If you need help to write one, go to Google
And type in "I Want A Poem"  as your wish.

It will helpfully direct you to a website
That helps you say all that you want to say.

My School Book Club

Run by the same people who first brought you Red House Books, My School Book Club is a fabulous way to buy books for your little ones and also to benefit your child's school at the same time. 20% of each books value goes to your child's school so that they can then buy more brilliant, great quality books.

All of us at one time or another have had an experience with school books fairs. Either remembering them with pleasure from your own childhood, or less pleasurably going to one over the years since you became a parent.
Now I don't know about you, but a crowded school hall, at 3.30pm when you need to be in a million other places, is not my idea for a fun and relaxed buying experience.
Well My School Book Club lets you do the whole thing online, in the comfort of your own living room, at your own time.
And there is no pressure of having to turn up on the specific day in the 10 minute slot that 300 other parents eagerly turn up for. All year long, whatever you buy, the 20% is given to your child's school.
You get to make your selection from a vast choice of quality books at fabulous prices.
Win Win as far as I can see.

So if your child's school is not yet signed up to My School Book Club, I would highly recommend you suggest it to them!
