It's been a great start to the year here at I Want A Poem. When I started back in 2007, I had no idea at all if this would work. But thanks to some very good friends who gave me the confidence to get out there, here I am. So I would first of all like to take the opportunity to say thank you to my wonderful clients. It has been a privilege to work with each and every one.

I have been lucky enough to work on a really diverse set of poems already this year; from a marriage proposal to an apology and a poem about baby cousins to go inside a scrapbook to an 'in memoriam' ode, for a funeral.

One of the poems I most enjoyed working on, was an Alice in Wonderland Style story that a gentleman commissioned for his girlfriend, as a romantic gift.

Another two touching poems were for Weddings. I was asked to write a poem for a Bride from her late Grandmother and another was again to a Bride, but from her youngest sister. I think it is little touches like this that the Bride will hopefully look back on and be moved, even years after she has tied the knot.

Christmas was also a popular time for getting engaged so many eager Brides to Be are already scouting out personalised wedding readings and thinking about how they can thank their loved ones for being a part of their big day.
Weddings are particuarly sentimental times anyway, but having some extra special words can truly add the edge.

I always knew that there had to be a poem for every occasion and it seems I was right. There are so many reasons to buy a poem. I wonder if you have an idea for poem? What do you like to hear or read?

Poems in 2010

I am looking forward to the challenges that the rest of the year will bring; you just never know what you'll be asked to write about next! Sometimes, it's nice to write poetry about matters really close to your heart, drawing on your own personal emotions but equally, it can be liberating to let your imagination run wild.
A poem can grow from the tiniest seed into something beautiful and unique.
