Welcome to March! Spring is in the air and the dreaded Ice Age that we have been living for the last few months definitely seems to be thawing.

February has been a great month at iwantapoem.co.uk.  Another great round fo inspiration poetic requests.

I was honured to write poems for a 50th and 30th birthday presents. It always makes me smile doing birthday poem commissions because the people who request these personalised verses obviously hold them in great esteem; basically, it's lovely to hear tales of close friendship and happy family life.

I was also asked to write a poems for the funerals of a cherished Grandfather and also one for a colleague and friend.
These are poems that I am truly honoured to write but they do touch my heart. Writing a eulogy is like writing somebody's final dedication - it is really quite sad but a milestone at the same time. I suppose that in life, one of the only certainties is death, but it doesn't make it any easier to deal with.

The death of an elderly family member gives you the opportunity to rejoice in everything that they did and acheived over their lives. Poems for the loss of younger people can also be used in the same way, but they are also good for just letting the family know that you are thinking of them.

When there is nothing you can do, there is always something you can say.

A highlight of the month was being asked to write a poem for Mother's Day with a difference. In fact two poems were requested; one for the child's legal mother and one for her surrogate mother. It was so lovely to look at life through the eyes of this little one on her first Mother's Day whilst talking about what she would thank each mother for.
Another example of the beauty of life and all it entails.

And the final subject I will mention is wedding poems. I was asked to write two seperate poems to the bride from her Groom; a poem to open privately on the morning of the wedding and a humourous poem to read at the wedding reception. I was chuckling away at the jokes that were included so I hope that when it gets to the reception itself, there will be a few titters.

So, that was a brief rundown of February. I am really looking forward to the poetic commissions that are requested throughout March.
